Hypnosis Will Help You Achieve Your Goals

Hypnosis is a natural human ability that can enable you to transform your life. While in a hypnotic trance, you are in a state of focused attention. While experiencing this state of heightened awareness it is easier to learn new ways of doing things.

You experience trance everyday. Examples of everyday hypnotic experiences include driving, daydreaming and getting engrossed in the plot of a television show or movie.

In a hypnotic trance, you have the experience of extreme suggestibility, deep relaxation and heightened imagination. You are not asleep. You are alert and relaxed. It would be more accurate to say that the experience of trance is similar to daydream or the feeling of getting lost in a movie. Even though you are fully alert, you have a tendency to tune out most of the conditions or activities around you. You are so focused on the object of your preoccupation, all other stimuli are excluded.

If you are very interested in a movie, the world on the screen seems somewhat real to you. You may tend to respond emotionally to scenes in the movie; feeling fear, sadness, surprise, or happiness. The imaginary world of the movie invokes real emotional responses. It is common to become so engrossed in a show, that we may not be fully aware of the activity taking place around us (for example, not hearing the telephone ring).

In our normal everyday waking state, we can be aware of many things simultaneously. In a trance state, we tend to focus on one item at a time.

The single-mindedness of the trance state helps you to put aside the doubts and worries that influence your behavior. That is why people experiencing trance often feel relaxed and uninhibited. They also find that their everyday worries tend to fade away in this relaxing state.

Hypnosis is one way to access your subconscious mind. Generally, we are primarily aware of the thoughts within our conscious mind which helps us keep track of those everyday tasks that we have to perform. Our subconscious mind works hand-in-hand with our conscious mind, automatically taking care of the important behind the scene tasks that we normally do not have to think about. Our subconscious mind is responsible for our ability to breathe without being consciously aware of it or driving a car without having to consciously think of every detail of that task.

Your subconscious mind does much of your thinking. It records all of our thoughts, actions, and experiences. It is responsible for our instinctual reactions. Your conscious mind filters the impulses and information provided by the subconscious mind so that you behave in ways that correlate to your past learning, experiences, and personal belief systems.

The deep relaxation and focus experienced in the hypnotic state subdues the conscious mind so that it takes a less active role in your thinking process. In the hypnotic state your conscious mind takes a backseat to your subconscious mind, allowing suggestions to enter your subconscious mind while bypassing conscious filtering.

This is the means by which hypnosis can help achieve your goals. The subconscious mind can help you make changes in your thought processes automatically and easily. What do you want to transform in your life?

Frequently Asked Questions About Hypnosis

What is hypnosis?

Hypnotherapy is a style of guided relaxation using concentration in which the therapist introduces new ideas into the client’s subconscious mind. This state of consciousness allows individuals to accept new ideas more easily. The Hypnotherapist is merely a guide, leading the client into trance and introducing new ideas into the client’s awareness. It is important that one look at his or her motivations for seeking hypnosis. If you truly want the changes to occur and you agree with the therapist’s suggestions, you will see positive results.

How does hypnosis work?

Our minds work on two levels – the conscious and the unconscious. We make decisions, think, and act with our conscious mind. The unconscious mind controls our habits. In the relaxed state known as hypnosis, we can communicate directly with the unconscious mind. This is why it is so quick and easy to change habits of a lifetime with hypnosis.

Will hypnosis work for me?

Generally speaking, every normal person is “hypnotizable”. That is, people with an IQ of at least 70, and no severe mental disorders. All that is required is the ability to relax and concentrate. Therefore, virtually anyone can achieve successful results using hypnosis. Most of all, one has to be willing to undergo hypnosis. People who claim to be unhypnotizable are simply unwilling to be hypnotized.

How will I know if I am hypnotized?

Most people cannot tell the difference between the hypnotized and the waking states. Some people feel relaxed and lethargic; others feel a sense of lightness. One thing that people do notice is an inexplicable change in their daily behaviors.

Is hypnosis safe?

Hypnosis is completely safe. You are aware and in control at every moment and can terminate the session at any time. Hypnosis is not sleep, nor can you get “stuck” in a state of hypnosis. You cannot be made to do something against your will! Hypnosis is a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable experience.

Do people do things under hypnosis that are against their personal values?

No. You must agree with the therapist’s suggestions for them to affect you in any way. Your conscious mind may be distracted during hypnosis but it is still active. If one were given a suggestion that he or she did not agree with, that person would simply refuse, ignore it or awaken from the trance with normal awareness. Please remember, in a therapeutic hypnotherapy setting, you are in control.

Can a person’s memory be erased?

No. If the client wants to remember what occurred during hypnosis, he or she will remember. If the client wishes to forget something, the Hypnotherapist can create amnesia with a post-hypnotic suggestion but the memory will resurface as soon as the individual wants to remember the experience. Certainly, subconscious memories are generally responsible for our behaviors, attitudes, feelings and decisions. A qualified Hypnotherapist can help a person transform a memory which may be the root of a problem for the individual.
